Dunstable Downs Outing

Dunstable Downs Outing 21st September 2023 There were 8 members on the outing Dunstable Downs is within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is the highest point in Bedfordshire. Chilterns Gateway Centre is owned by Central Bedfordshire Council and managed by the National Trust. In the morning the weather was good with sun and clouds, the good weather lasted for a few hours. Then between 2- 3 pm it rained then sun. The journey round the M25 took about 1 hour 15 minutes and the traffic was ok. There were lots of insects and a few Red Kite birds to photograph as well as planes from the local gliding club based at the foot of the downs. There were lots of photo opportunities including the woods, landscape, sulphur tuft fungi, flies, dogs, windwatcher, and ichneumon wasp. Best Wishes, Ray
