Whitby Extended Outing

Whitby Trip — Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th, 2025

Fourteen club members, along with several partners, enjoyed a four-day trip to Whitby. The 260-mile journey went smoothly for everyone. Most of us stayed at The Royal Hotel, while others chose a nearby Airbnb apartment.

The weather was… well, character-building. Cold, grey, and often wet enough to make a duck think twice. Still, armed with optimism and waterproofs of varying effectiveness, we split into groups and headed out to explore. Highlights included Whitby town, Whitby Abbey, Robin Hood’s Bay, Saltburn, and the always-picturesque Falling Foss waterfall — which was even more “watery” than usual.

Evenings were a great chance to catch up over meals in various restaurants and share stories about where we’d been.

The images we later submitted to the post-trip competition reflect the full range of conditions we faced — and show just how much creativity can flourish even in less-than-ideal weather.
